EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) in India

  • Runs on 6V battery. No need of power supply.
  • Records maximum 3,840 votes and can cater to maximum 64 candidates, with maximum 16 in 1 balloting unit.
  • VVPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail) is a verification system that allows voters to verify whether their votes correctly casted or not.

  6. Each EVM unit has unique serial number and the software of control unit is burnt in a micro-chip which is one-time programmable.
