The Chinese Martial Arts of Wing Chun

Philosophy :

  • One who excels in defeating his enemy, does not join issues.
  • One who excels in employing others, humbles himself before them.
  • This is the virtue of non-contention and matching sublimity of Heaven.


The 9 Characteristics of Wing Chun :

1. Proper balance, structure and stance. It must be firm bit flexible, rooted yet yielding.
2. Muscle relaxation.
3. Center-line
4. Punches
5. Kicks to lower body
6. Elbows and knee strikes
7. Uncommitted techniques. If the attack fails, the practitioner is able to flow easily into a follow-up      attack and can form a chain of attacks.
8. Trapping skills and sensitivity.
9. Close range strikes

  • The 3 great Chinese martial arts are Wing Chun, Hung-Gar and Choi Lei Fut. They are from the Southern Chinese Schools.
