The Hellenistic Philosophy of Greece

Stoicism School of Philosophy was founded by Zeno of Citium in the 3rd cen. BC. 

Based on the ethical ideas of the Cynics, it taught that the goal of life was to live in accordance with Nature. It advocated the development of self-control and fortitude as a means of overcoming destructive emotions.

The 4 Categories :

  1. Substance 
  2. Quality, 
  3. Somehow disposed, 
  4. Somehow disposed in relation to something.

The 4 Cardinal Virtues :

  1. Wisdom 
  2. Courage 
  3. Justice
  4. Temperance.

The 4 Primary Passions :

  1. Distress
  2. Fear
  3. Lust
  4. Delight

The 5 Types of Things :

  1. Beings
  2. Time
  3. Place
  4. Void
  5. Sayable.
