The Dvaita Philosophy of Madhavacharya

Dvaita Vedanta is a sub-school in the Vedanta tradition of Hindu philosophy. Alternatively known as Bhedavāda, Tattvavāda and Bimbapratibimbavāda, the Dvaita Vedanta sub-school was founded by the 13th-century scholar Madhvacharya.

The 3 Aspects of Prakriti (Mother Nature) presided over by 3 Powers :

  1. Lakshmi
  2. Bhu-devi
  3. Durga 
The Modifications of Prakriti :

  1. The Cosmic Mind (Mahat)
  2. False ego
  3. Intellect
  4. Mind
  5. The 10 senses
  6. The 5 sense objects
  7. The 5 great elements 
Classification of Souls :

1. Eternal

2. Liberated

3. Bound ones :--

    i) Those eligible for Moksha (final liberation)

    ii) Those not eligible for Moksha--

         a) Souls bound to the cycle of Samsara.

         b) Souls destined for Hell (Tamo-yogya)  

The 4 Tasks in Worship of Sri Vishnu :

  1. Ankana          (marking body with His symbols)
  2. Namaskarana (giving the names of Lord to the children)
  3. Bhajan           (singing His glories)
  4. Smarana         (constant practice for His remembrance)
