    b) Motivating yourself to be responsible for your personal safety through study and training.
    c) Understanding the impact self-esteem has on emotional resilience, crisis performance and                     victim selection.

2. Survival intelligence :--
    Cultivation, recognition and responding to--

  • Knowledge
  • Intuition
  • Awareness
  • Assessment skills
3. Understanding victim selection

4. Recognizing predatory behavior :--
    The 2 types of bad guys--
    a) The Predator, who deliberately sets out to locate, select and attack a suitable victim and is                   methodical in approach.
    b) The Ticking Time-bomb, who is emotionally unstable and prone to violent outbursts, lashes out           at anyone who happens to get in his way.

5. The Response Option Theory :--.
The 5 categories relevant to confrontational situations--
a) Compliance
b) Escape
c) De-escalation
d) Assertiveness
e) Fighting back

The 3-A's of Mental Maps :

1. Accurate :--

  • Established and refined by learning about violent and predatory situation.
  • Learning to recognize pre-assault patterns and developing an inventory of skills and strategies.
  • By consistently applying awareness and prevention strategies they become habits and soon they are automatic.

Paying Attention :     

  • The ability to recognize a dangerous person or situation makes you safer.
  • Awareness involves what to look for and disciplining yourself to pay attention.
  • The ultimate success in self defense is when nothing happens.
  • The earlier you detect and recognize a potential problem, the more options you have to resolve it.
  • Detecting and recognizing danger is based on accurate mental maps.
  • Attention involves adjusting the conscious forces towards what is relevant to a particular situation.
