Desert Survival

Deserts are among the most treacherous places that a person can get stranded in. With the many unique challenges that are found in deserts, you need to know how to get around them to survive in desert.

Are you well-equipped to survive in a desert in the case of an emergency or accident? If you are planning on traveling anywhere amidst the vast stretches of arid land, it is prudent to consider studying about desert survival before you embark on your journey. 

However, as much as having a good pool of knowledge is vital for your desert survival; it is good to note that you don`t have to be a survival expert to ensure that you conquer the harsh desert environment. As long as you keep some crucial tips in mind, you will be fine.

Desert Survival Kit :

  • LED flashlight, aluminum foil, lighter, matches, flint & steel, tinders.
  • Mirror, compass, whistle.
  • Knife, fork & spoon, canteen, water bottles, water purification tablets, snare wire, (fish hooks, line, weights)
  • Threads, paracord, needle & sewing threads, safety pins.
  • First-aid kit, sunscreen.
  • Duct tape, pocket knife, razor blade, pen, pencil, notepad.

Clothing :

Cotton/ synthetic, full sleeve, head gear, goggles, woolen blankets (for night).

Medical Kit/ First-aid :

It should have electrolyte powder, bandage, band-aids, antacids, pain-killer tablets, alcohol wipes, gauze, antiseptic cream, Aspirin, burn ointment, cold packs, splints, anti-venom kit, stomach ache & fever medicines, EMT masks, medical tape, hand sanitizer bottles, soaps, vinyl gloves, thermometers, asthma inhalers, tweezers, scissors, scalpel blade.

Bug-out Vehicle Tips :

  • Prefer off-road vehicles.
  • Carry good hose, spare tires, spare fan-belts, tools, extra fuel, oils, coolant and water.
  • Keep another spare set of med-kit, a multi-tool/ Swiss Army Knife, pen and notepad in the glove box.
  • The toolkit must have flashlight, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers and shovel.

Desert Police EDC Carry :

Dagger, pistol, flashlight, notepad, Pen.
