Deadly Skills (by Clint Emerson, ex-SEAL) [2015]

 Hello Everyone !!!

Deadly Skills was a book or rather a survival manual authored by the ex-SEAL personnel Mr. Clint Emerson in 2015.

 

1. Mission Prep :

# Mindset is defined by preparedness and awareness.

# Equipment to carry for a tactical traveler :--

Carry bag, wrist watch, razor blade, cuff-key, cloth map, lighter, LED flashlight, pocket knife, semi-auto pistol.

# Improvisation of gears is essential.

# Choose clothing and accessories which are useful, neutral and blending.

# Create an EDC kit :-- 

a) Pocket kit --

Lock-picks, knife, mouthpiece, compass, cash, black cellphone, metallic pen, cuff-key, LED light, razor blade, wrist watch.

b) Container kit --

Loose coins, headlamp, GPS device, lock-pick, paracord.

c) Operational bag --

USB stick. empty collapsible backpack, razor blade, lighter, wrist watch, umbrella, sunglasses, cash, map, extra clothes, footwear.

# Vehicle Bolt Bag :--

Extra clothes, paper-map, energy bars, MRE, water, Credit card, multi-tool, medical kit, cellphone, flashlight, GPS device, cash, extra battery. 

# Concealed carry-tube :--

Contains a nail, shim, cash, map and compass.

# Violent nomad workout :--

  • Train in real-world combat and self-defense techniques.
  • Train with heavy-bags, along with cardio workout.

2. Infiltration :

a) Cross enemy borders by sea :--

  • Carry a water-proof backpack containing a pistol, extra magazines, black cellphone, GPS device, shovel, extra clothes and shoes.

b) Cross by land :--

  • Best vehicle - Off-road motorcycle.
  • Carry EDC kit, Bolt-bag, fuel, food, water and clothing.
  • Improvised shelters, GPS, compass and maps are essential for navigation.
  • Being untraceable is essential.
  • Travel light.

c) Conceal gear using caches :--

  • While crossing remote territory on foot, gears can be divided into 2 categories - Items needed in the first leg of journey, items needed post-mission or emergency.
  • The secondary cache must have food, fuel, communication devices, money, weapons hidden away in a pre-planned route.
  • Packed in durable containers, concealed away in caves, hollow tree, bottom of lake etc. Mark its location on GPS device.
  • The contents should be shelter items, fire (matches, flint & steel, magnifying glass, cotton wool), water (sterilizing tablets, filter, collapsible canteen), food (fish hooks & line, snare wire, slingshot rubber, MRE, aluminum foils, small utensils), first-aid kit, tools (Multi-tool, knife, crowbar, Machete/ Kukri), navigation (compass, notepad, pen), light, ropes, Paracord, spool of dental floss, repairs (sewing kit, duct tape, superglue)

d) Blend into any environment :--

The 4 dimensions to check-out are

  1. Personal -- Match looks and manner to the environment.
  2. Cultural -- Actions and preferences matched with cultural context
  3. Situational -- Continually scan the environment for potential dangers, especially all exits of a room, potential improvised weapons and when to escape or take defensive action.
  4. Third party -- Keenly aware of who is watching, remaining undetected by law-enforcement, citizens, criminals and hackers.

3. Infrastructure Development :

  • Concealing spots within hotel rooms include inside hems of window curtains, landline housing, cover of ironing board, beneath pulled-up carpet, in corners, inside shower curtain rods, toilet tank, housing of TV etc.
  • Improvised weapons include umbrella filled with wrenches. metal pen, sap, padlock, chain, coins etc. 

4. Surveillance :

Use IR light to land aircraft, track persons in darkness and signal for help.

5. Operational Actions : 

a) Knife-fighting tips :--

  • Hold knife by a sacrificial-guard hand and rotate torso sideways.
  • Hold by straight grip or ice-pick grip
  • Attack along the 8 angles of attack
  • Vital spots to attack - Sub-clavicle, brachial plexus, femoral, cartoid, aorta and radial.

b) Knock-out strikes :--

  • Punch to temple, jaws, chin and back of head.
  • The 3 elements - surprise, power, accuracy.

c) Elbow strikes :--

Vital spots to strike - throat, temple, chin.

d) Get past a guard-dog :--

  • Canine deterrent spray
  • Can of compressed-air on dog's nose
  • Nitrogen and other gases cans.

6. Exfiltration and Escape :

Develop a bug-out route.

  • Research avenues of escape.
  • Develop primary and alternate routes -- starting point, end point, rally points (pre-planned locations to meet-up someone), go points (friendly and known remote locations), no-go points, choke points (places where you can be ambushed), water crossings, towns, (fuel, water, food), terrain markers.
  • Load and conceal life-support cache along routes.
  • Load routes and stopping points into GPS device, password-protect and conceal the GPS device in your Bolt-bag.
