VICTORIAN ERA (1837-1901)

Intoxicants used in the Victorian Era :

Alcohol, barbiturates & depressants, Chloral, heroin, laudanum, morphine, opium, tobacco.

Women Pocket Contents : (1801-1900)

Money, jewellery, purse, thimble, pin-cushion, pocket knife, scissors, keys, spectacles, watch, pinch beck seal, hook, mirror, comb, needle-case, foods like biscuits, nutmeg, fruits, cakes etc., Vesta case, whistle, pen, pencil, notebook.

Women Chatelaine Items :

 Needle case, thimble, tape measure, whistle, folding button hook, coin purse, Vinaigrette, perfume bottle, keys, knife, scissors, watch, seal, fan, notepad, pencil, pen.

Identity Documents :

Letters of reference from upper class, letters of introduction, calling cards, a strip of tape with ID details for soldiers.

Soldiers Equipments Carry :

E-tool, field glasses, telescope, smoking pipe, matches, ration pack, soap, notebook, pencil.

Policeman Equipment Carry :

Baton, cuffs, lantern, whistle, rattler, fountain pen, pencil, notepad.


17th CENTURY ENGLAND

Food :

Introduction of chocolate, tea, coffee, new fruits. Eating with forks.
For poor, it was bread, cheese, onions. 
The ordinary people also ate pottage stew.

Leisure and Pastime :

Cards, board games, bowling etc.


16th CENTURY ENGLAND

Society :

The society divided in 5 broad groups of Nobility, gentry & rich merchants, Yeoman & craftsman, tenant farmers and wage laborers.

Food :

For upper class it was meat, eggs, honey, flour, bread.
For poor, it was barley/ rye bread, cheese, onions, (grains, meat and veg porridge), drinks included water, milk, ale, beer, wine, cider, perry.  

Leisure and Pastime :

Billiards, board games, cards, gambling, reading.


THE MIDDLE AGES (500-1500 AD)

Society structure :

King, baron, tenant-in-chief, soldiers & knights, other occupations, peasants (serf, villeins).

Leisure and Pastime :

Hunting, dance, board games, cards, tournaments, football, gambling, wrestling.

Writing Instruments of the Era :

Reed pens, quill pen.
