We all are very well known to the tool or weapon known as a Knife. One of the earliest tools used by humanity, knives appeared at least 2.5 million years ago, as evidenced by the Oldowan tools. 

Originally made of wood, bone, and stone (such as flint and obsidian), over the centuries, in step with improvements in both metallurgy and manufacturing, knife blades have been made from copper, bronze, iron, steel, ceramic, and titanium.
Most modern knives have either fixed or folding blades; blade patterns and styles vary by maker and country of origin.

  1. The historical 2 daggers of Egyptian King Tut were made of meteor iron and gold, with a blade length of 13.4".
  2. French gangsters in the early 1900s used an Apache revolver that functioned as a revolver, knife and a knuckleduster.
  3. The longest recorded kill by a throw knife in history was 87-feet during World War-II.
  4. The Obsidian blades are so sharp (about 3 mm thick blade) that on a cellular level, they can cut between cells, rather than the cells. They are sharper than the metallic blades.

  6. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan's dagger was an understated elegant blade with gold inscriptions and decorations. The inscriptions on the dagger contains his name, title, place and date of dagger's manufacture.
  7. The blade of a Ballistic knife can be fired to a range of 16-feet at a speed of 63 km/hr. It can be propelled by spring, air, gas or explosive charge.
  8. The universally accepted lengths of a knife is 4", a dagger is 4"-12" and a short sword is 1-feet to 2-feet.
