NINJA : THE MYTH, THE REALITY (PART-1)
The Ninjas are Japanese warriors known for their occupation of assassination by stealth methods.
They have been made immortal through Hollywood movies and are sometimes believed to be super-humans with magical powers.
Here I am sharing some not-so-commonly known facts about Ninjas, gathered from various other forums and discussion boards, which included facts given by many martial artists all over the world.
Nobody can prove or disprove these facts to be real, yet its worth looking at...
Ninja Stealth :
- Ninjas were trained from an early age to walk and move quietly. They communicated with secret codes and used used aliases instead of their real names. Before going on mission they avoided eating garlic and beans to reduce the chance of producing odors that might draw unwanted attention.
- They were skilled at scaling castle walls and using tunnels to pop up in unlikely places. Their ability to disappear is attributed to their use of "trap-doors" in floors and secret pivotal doors in walls. Their residences had hidden escape routes and movable floorboards where their weapons were stashed.
- Contrary to popular myth, Ninja men did not dress in hooded black jumpsuits. Rather, they wore conservative blue outfits like those worn by peasants that allowed them to blend into the crowd. When they traveled, they often posed as Buddhist priests or candy salesmen. The female Ninja (or Shinobi) generally wore red costumes.
