Chapter 1 (Mindset Preparation)

# Attitude

# Reality check :--

a) Your abilities --

It includes mental handling of stress, trauma of attack, killing intention in self defense, martial arts training, boxing, weight training, physical stamina and strength.

b) Abilities and aims of opponent

c) Your environment

# Avoid Fatal 8 :--

Gangs, drugs, sex, debt & gambling, stealing, stitching, trickbags to catch naive inmates, riot.

# The 5 categories of opponent :--

Outside foes, inside foes, psychopaths, opportunist, yourself.

# Be vigilant and aware of your surroundings.

Chapter 2 (Non-violent Self defense)

# The Methods :--

  • Psychological warfare - fear, superstitions
  • Snitching
  • Planting contraband to frame someone
  • "Getting a dog eat a dog", i.e., getting someone to remove your enemy for you by various tricks and ploys.
Chapter 3 (Violent Self Defense)

# Unarmed self defense :--

  • The 4 tactics - Preemptive action, distractions, yelling, kicking.
  • Anatomy and targets -- Ankles & feet, knees, groin, belly, elbows, hands & wrists, solar plexus, collarbone, temple, ears, side of neck, throat, eyes, nose, mouth, chin, under ears, base of skull, between shoulder blades, armpit, kidney, tail bone, groin, back of knees, Achilles tendon, spine.
# Prison hidden arsenal :--
Caps, magazine, belt, improvised Armor, shoes, gloves.

# Weapons in a typical cell :--
Bed, trashcan, toilet, sink & mirror, light fixtures, appliances, metal cabinet, windows, bookshelf.

# Blade weapons & strategies :--
  • The weapons include pieces of wood, metal, glass, plexiglass, plastic, razor blade, tin-can lids, pen, pencil.
  • Keep as much distance between you and opponent.
  • Always find a covering shield for your defending hand.
  • Never panic when as assailant comes to you with a shank.
  • Practice your unarmed blocking of punches.
  • Prisoners determined to kill with one strike, attack from behind - striking into neck and throat.
  • The types of blades used are regular-edged, pointed tipped, ice pick, spikes, razor and small blades.
  • The 2 types of knife grips - Inside grip, outside grip.
# Types of blade weapons :--

I) Stabbing --
  • Any pen, pencil, sharp stick, large nail, spike.
  • The grips are - push-fist, inside grip
II) Cutting --

Any tin-can lid, razor, blade-embedded comb, toothbrush, ID card, spike-embedded gloves etc.

# Bludgeons :--

Pipe bludgeons, Nunchaku type weapons, spiked mace, barbed-wire flail, blowguns, shotgun, torches, shanks of (glass, metal, sharp stick, bone, ceramic etc).

# Strangulation :--
  • Prison tools include metal cloth-hangar, piece of wood, pipe, circular UHF antenna, handkerchief, dental floss, belt, socks, electric cord, plastic garbage bags, newspaper.
  • Other methods are - plastic bag over head, drowning, throwing caustic substance in face etc
  • In H2H, strong blow to throat with hands/ bludgeon.
# Poison :--

Commonly used are Nicotine, mercury, rat poison, grounded glass, Botulinum poison, Rhubarb, tomato leaves, certain legal medicines, poisonous plants and flowers.

# Firearms :--

Some substitutes are throwing darts, blowguns, slingshots (BB, stones, arrow-bolts), Hawaiian sling, syringe, squirt guns.

CONCLUSION

# Prison Survival Maxims :--
  • Vigilance is your only hope, determination to survive your only ally.
  • If you must do violence, do efficient violence.
  • Strike the first blow.
  • You only get one shot, so make it count.
  • Hit and keep hitting.
  • Dead man can't kill you tomorrow
  • Despite your best planning, shit happens !!!
