Ojas-- The Essence of Human Body

In Hindu philosophy and Ayurveda, Ojas is the ultimate energy reserve of the body, derived from the food we eat. It is similar to the concepts of Chi, Ki and Mana.
The 10 Properties of Ojas :
1. It is nourished by the moonlight.
2. Unctuous
3. Bright colored
4. Cold in nature
5. Steady by its qualitative and quantitative aspect
6. Moving and liquid in nature
7. Solitary entity though it is the ultimate essence of all tissues
8. Soft in nature
9. Lustrous
10. Sweet in taste
The 5 Functions :
1. Balanced muscular growth
2. Mental and physical power to carry out any task without getting defeated by obstacles.
3. Deep commanding voice and glorious skin lustre
4. Proper and utmost efficiency in the sense and action organs.
5. One drop of semen (Ojas travels through it) is equivalent to 100 drops of blood.
The 5 Ways to Develop Ojas :
1. Through Celibacy and self-control
2. Bhakti yoga
3. Control of senses
4. By following the right diet :--
a) Vegetarian diet, whole grains, rice
b) Include milk and milk products
c) Consume honey, jaggery.
5. Mind, Prana (vital breath) and Ojas are 3 pillars of good health. Control any one, other two are automatically controlled.
