Delta/ SEALS Defense Manual Book was released in 2012. Here are some excerpts from that book.

1. Surviving Modern World :

# The 4 levels of mental preparedness :--

  • Not expecting any trouble, feel and act perfectly trustful and safe.
  • Being aware to surroundings, use common sense for general safety.
  • In situations of danger, be prepared for escape or attack with full speed and aggression.
  • When action is imminent for danger, deliver whatever response or move you are prepared, with total commitment and aggression.

# The 7 basic rules of survival :--

  • Stay alert by maintaining 360 degrees surveillance. 
  • Exhibit appropriate attitude according to the situation.
  • Be decisive and act on it.
  • Speed decision and action is essential.
  • Respond with violence of action by will and strength, when no other options left to defend. Use self-defense and improvised weapons to defend. 
  • Stay calm and be accurate. Be always thinking, assessing and planning. Training, practice and conditioning by firearms very essential if you plan to use it.
  • Use elements of surprise to your advantage.

# The initial response for a hostile situation must be to walk away, if possible.

2. Combat Pistol Training :

# Basics :--

  • Semi-auto pistols have advantages of speed reloading, magazine capacity and safety features.
  • For revolvers, medium-bore, double-action in 0.38 Special or 0.357 Magnum more effective for home defense. Revolvers are simple, easier to shoot in stress, low noise and recoils.
  • Use frangible and hollow-point bullets for home defense.
  • Daily practice with handgun of dry-fire, shooting from various positions essential.

# Safety tips :--

  • Keep guns locked in cabinet near bed.
  • Always carry guns in holster.
  • Never point it at anything you don't intend to shoot and always treat the gun as if it is loaded.
  • Keep the gun well oiled and clean.
  • Hearing and eye protection are important.

# Tactical survival rules :--

  • Always keep eyes and ears open, be attentive to threats.
  • When indoors, search in a systematic and organized way and never turn back on anything you checked-out first.
  • Stay back from corners while searching the assailant. 
  • Stay at a distance from enemy.
  • Keep your balance.
  • Watch the front sight of gun, not at target.
  • Take every advantage.
  • Move after firing, don't stay at same spot.
  • Wear proper, thick clothing.
  • Don't allow yourself to be surprised. Be alert, constantly assessing the situation and act swiftly.
  • Stay cool and calm.
  • Verbal judo.

3. Martial Arts Training :

# Basic tips :--

  • Alertness and awareness are most important.
  • Its your right and obligation to defend yourself with full effort.
  • If confrontation needed, hit attacker fast and take aggressive attitude.
  • Full contact practice and sparring essential.

# Some simple defensive tactics :--

  • Eye-jabs
  • Headbutt
  • Groin-kick
  • Palm heal strike/ Tiger Claw strike
  • Edge of hand strike/ Karate chop

# The 8 angles of strikes for stick and knife.

# Improvised weapon :--

  • Be creative and stay cool
  • Assess the situation and then use them
  • The goal should be to hit and escape

# Mass attack :--

  • Put yourself in a position so as to put one guy in way of another.
  • Never put back against a wall.
  • Tackle one opponent at a time
  • Hit first attacker as hard and fast as you can, to show "non-victim" attitude.
