The 3 Classes : (Sushruta Samhita Vol.5.8)
I) Mild poisoned :--
- Germinate from cow dung or ant other rotten substances.
- 12 species.
II) Neither mild nor strong :--
- Germinate from decomposed woods and decayed bricks.
- 3 species.
III) Strong poisoned :--
- Germinate from decomposed carcass of snakes, from any other poisonous putrid organic matter.
- 15 species
- Further divided in 4 classes - 12-jointed, 3-jointed, 2-jointed and jointless.
Physical Characteristics : (Jain text Ratnasarabhaga, Pg #150)
They have a body length of 1 yojana (12-15 km) and a lifespan of 6 months.

- Largest size on record - 11.5" Giant Forest Scorpion

- Total 13 families that group these all species.
- Scorpions glow vibrant blue-green when exposed to UV light.
