Practical Hypnotism (By Dr. Narayan Dutt Srimali) [Part-1]
Hello Everyone !!!
Here are some excerpts from this excellent book by Dr. Narayan Dutt Srimali.
The 11 Principles of Hypnotism :
1. Any sane person can be a successful hypnotist. It is a science which one must learn steadily.
2. A mentally retarded person cannot be hypnotized. The person to be hypnotized needs to be a person of normal intelligence. He should know well that he is a "subject" and is going to be hypnotized for a particular purpose.
3. It is easier to hypnotize a "subject" whose age is identical to that of the hypnotist. According to Western school, the more determined the "subject" is, the easier he lends himself for the process of hypnotisation. According to Indian school, age is in no way restrictive and further holds that a single hypnotist can mass-hypnotise at one go.
4. A "subject" must not be made to act/behave in a way repugnant to the tenets of his religion or personal taste. As, the "subject" while undergoing hypnotization, has his outer mind reduced to sleepiness, but not the inner mind, which sharply reacts to anything repugnant to his tenets. If persisted, it might break-off the trance.
5. The moment the trance is withdrawn, the sleepiness of the "subject" vanishes and he is restored to his consciousness.
6. In the state of hypnotic sleep, the inner potential of the "subject" lends itself for a better realisation, further development and right orientation.
7. Hypnotic experiments have proved particularly useful for release from bad habits. The inner mind of the "subject" receives and accepts the suggestions during hypnotic sleep. It does not forget the suggestions made during that time and acts on them after he regains consciousness.
8. While asleep hypnotically, one's organs of perception and action remains quite active. In fact, one's talent and intelligence gets sharpened.
9. Hypnotism makes the outer mind asleep by contriving an artificial sleep. Nonetheless, the inner mind remains awake and lends itself to be control of the hypnotist. In this state, the inner mind accepts and acts upon in whatever manner the hypnotist calls upon it to do.
10 .Every care should be taken to ensure that the hypnotist is well-equipped and competent beyond doubt before he begins to experiment on his "subjects".
11. Induction of hypnosis for the sake of fun is strictly prohibited.
The 3 Postulates : (by Dr. Burnham)
1. Hope :--
It offers itself as the most important to reach the state of hypnotised.
2. Will :--
It accelerates the state of hypnosis and further develops it to achieve integrity.
3. Effect :--
It is through effect that the hypnotist succeeds in establishing a more effective influence on his subject.
The 3 Stages to obtain Hypnosis :
1. Ordinary :--
In this stage, the "medium" finds it beyond himself to open his eyes. Gradually his hands and legs go out of his control. He does not knows what he is doing and what state of being is.
2. Medium :--
This stage puts the "medium" to a deeper hypnotic sleep. While his capacity to receive suggestions remains very limited, the inner mind is receptive to all orders placed on it.
3. Unconscious :--
In this stage, the "medium" receives in a proper way whatever suggestions he is called upon to follow. He acts up to it in a proper way. It is actually an artificial sleep and as he wakes up to his consciousness, he recalls whatever he was told in hypnotic sleep.
Some Basic Facts :
1. The entire creation is permeated by an invisible power. Every human is endowed with a magnetic power. In males, positive form and in females negative form operates. The finger tips have a higher concentration of magnetic power.
2. According to scientists, hypnotic powers are inherent in every individual. The eyes stores the maximum hypnotic and magnetic powers. It is present in all birds and animals.
3. The control of will-power and Prana is essential here. Pranayama helps to achieve control over Prana and the mind.
4. The 5 kinds of Yoga--
Hatha (Prana shakti), Dhyana (mental power), Karma (action), Bhakti (emotions), Jnana (intellect).
5. The entire creation is made of elements of Prana and Ether.
6. Practice Pranayama daily and after getting full control of thoughts, practice Shakti Chakra.
Thanks for Reading !!!
