Amazing Facts about Bikes (PART-2)

Here is the second and final part of the facts about bikes.

1. The Freestyle Motocross (FMX) started in the 1990's.

2. ATK Co. dirt bike "Intimidator" is powered by a 78 HP 2-stroke engine.

3. Castrol Honda makes a special sticky tape that improves airflow over race bikes' body works. 
    Laid across the nose section, it allows the air to slip up and over the helmet and leathers of the            rider move smoothly.

4. The 1st motorcycle ever was the American SH Roper 1869 steam cycle.

5. The 1st production bike to advertise a top speed of over 100 mph was the Brough Superior of            England.

6. The 1st bike to ever top 200 mph was supercharged at 499cc NSU in 1956. It achieved 211.4 mph.

7. The 1st rider to ever go over 300 mph was Don Vesco in 1975, on a 1496 cc Yamaha-engined              Streamliner. 

8. The 1st production motorcycle was the 1498 cc, 2.5 HP Hilderbrand & Wolfmuller bike of                  Germany in 1894.

9. Nobody in the 2004 GP, WSB or BSB series had the "No. 1" plate on their bikes.

10. The current available energy sources for bikes are Diesel, electricity, petrol and Hydrogen fuel            cells.

11. Highest top speed recorded ever in Moto GP is 372.6 kmph by Juan Montoya in 2005.

12. Honda only started racing to win the TT, in 1959 with the RC142.

13. Jean P. Ruggia of France was the 1st racer to regularly get his elbow down without crashing.

14. The con-rod of a sports bike engine at full revs endures alternate compression and tensile forces          of 10 tons, 500 times/sec.

15. The foot-operated sequential gear-change was invented by Mr. Velocettes H. Willis.

16. Shoei helmets have been known to withstand bullets !!

17. The most technically complex production motorcycle ever was the Honda NR-750  of 1992,                with its oval pistons, 8 valves per cylinder and 2 con-rods per piston.

18. The longest distance riding a motorcycle in 24 hours is 2,019.4 miles by American biker L.                  Russel Vaughn in Texas (US) on 10th August 2011. The bike used was Harley Davidson FLHTK        Electra-Glide 2010.  

19. Hells Angels founder Sonny Barger says in his autobiography that he prefers Japanese bikes to            the Harley Davidson !

20. Under its own power, Triumph's Rocket-III can accelerate 0-60 mph at almost the exactly same          rate as it would when dropped out of a plane !
