Principles of Filipino Martial Arts

Hello Everyone !!!

Strategy and Tactics :

The distinguishing characteristics of Pekiti Tirsia Kali (PTK) and of Filipino combat systems is the principle that weaponry is instructed first and then progresses in the final stage to empty hand skills.

  •  The 3 Strategic Reasoning :--
           a) The nature of conflict and warfare is the utilization of weaponry, not empty hands.
           b) The use of weaponry and bladed weapons in particular, develops and enhances combative                    techniques and applications at a more intensive level and faster rate than empty hands                          training.
           c) The Filipino methods of empty hands combat are derived directly from application of                           weaponry vs having completely different methods of empty hand and weaponry techniques.
The sequence is Weapon→ empty hands → weapons.

  • The 3 Principles of the system :--
  1. Self protection and maneuver against enemy.
  2. Destruction of enemy's weapons
  3. Enemy termination.

Executive Survival System :
It is based on approach of simple, easy and most impacting techniques that will help to get out of situations in 3 secs of time.
In PTK, body weapons are used like slap to ear, elbows, knees, groin kick, finger jabs to eyes, throat, use of paper roll, pen and Credit card to fight against knife attacks.
The practitioners are also taught gun disengagement and strategies which help them to recognize threats and enemies.

  • The 2 Principles taught :--
  1. Awareness of enemy
  2. Get inside the target, finish him in 3 secs and get out.

Combat Survival Triangle :
Military special operations forces approach to close quarters combat and battlefield survival dictate serious dedicated preparation through a continual training regimen.

a) Mental and physical conditioning

b) Strategies :--
Strategies for combat survival are selected and formulated according to--

  • Mission and operational requirements.
  • Enemy threat identification and capability assessment.
c) Tactics and their component skills are developed through physical skills and tactical exercises. Maintenance of skills after development is the critical factor in tactical skills application.
