KILL WITHOUT JOY book (by John Minnery, 1992)
Hello Everyone !!
Kill Without Joy: The Complete How to Kill Book (1992)by John Minnery is a controversial and detailed exploration of assassination techniques and methods. The book compiles 6 volumes of the "How to Kill" series, covering various approaches to murder, assassination, and death by design.
The book has been banned in certain countries due to its graphic content and sensitive subject matter. It is intended for informational purposes only and is not a guide for practical use. Readers have mixed opinions about the book, with some appreciating its historical perspective and others criticizing its disturbing nature
The Target
# The aims-- stop the breath, start the bleeding, promote shock
# The targets-- brain, heart, spine
To Kill Unarmed
# Blow to throat, neck, cartoid arteries, choking, strike to back of neck, chin jab, eye jab, punch to heart, solar plexus, kidneys.
Clubs for Killers
# It should be made as heavy as possible and should not break after a heavy clout. Strike on the head, side of neck, temple, back of head, side of head, kidney, spine, throat, heart.
# Clubs are silent, deadly and ubiquitous. Ideal length-- 15-26"
# Some examples are iron bar, lead pipe, spring cosh, sock filled with sand/soap, hammer, BK, hand-sticks (yawara, kubotan etc).
# If possible always use both hands to achieve maximum force and always aim at a point 5" below the skin at the target site.
The Hatchet Job
# Hacking weapons are very effective. They should be very sharp and a fair weight.
# The prime targets-- neck, head
# Hatchet & Tomahawk are best all-round H2H combat weapons. They can be used as a club and a cleaver, easily portable, always handy.
# Next weapon in effectiveness are Machete, meat cleaver, mattock.
# Keep a "1-2 approach", i.e., a downing/ KO blow followed by severing the head.
# Other hacking weapons are hand-axe, pruning axe, Kukri, bowie axe.
Knife/ Dagger Work
# The knife can be used for cut, thrust and pommel strike.
# Ideal dagger is Fairbairn Sykes knife (L- 7")
# Strike targets-- throat, neck, chest, kidney, slashes (wrist, inside elbows, armpit, inside thighs)
# Another knife used is a Needle knife (L- 9") made of thin tubular steel/ copper. When stabbed with it, it acts as a funnel through which blood flows and not coagulates. Apart from piercing, it cuts a circular hole. The targets -- neck, chest, kidney.
# With ice-pick/ stout needle knife, pinpoint accuracy is needed. The targets -- through eyes to brain, ear canal to brain, up the nose to brain.
# Improvised tools like SD, sharp chisel can be used to stab back of neck, spine, base of skull.
# Use razor blades to slash neck arteries atleast 1" deep.
Special Weapons
# These are improvised home-made firearms like pipe-guns, knuckle pistols (L- 5.1"; 0.22 cal), pen-pistols etc.
# The advantages are unable to being traced, easily home-made from local materials, cheap. Favoured caliber is 0.22 cal, firing pin is often a nail/ sharpened small bolt. Used for point-blank distances.
# Pen pistols are generally are of small caliber (e.g., .22 LR, .25 ACP, .32 ACP, .38-caliber, etc.), are single shot, average length being 5". They can fire regular ammo, blank cartridges, signal flares, or tear gas cartridges.
They are inaccurate, lacks muzzle velocity, cannot be reloaded quickly & are functionally unreliable. They are intended to distract and incapacitate the victim.
Hang Tough
# For mechanical strangulation, devices like wire, cord, rope etc used.
# Use a length of wire (24-30") with wooden dowels at each ends as handle.
# Strangle the neck from behind.
Use of Poison
# Poison can be inhaled, imbibed, injected, absorbed or eaten.
# Most lethal poisons are cyanide, hydrocyanic acid, cynogen gas.
# Other poisons and chemicals -- Strychnine powder, overdose of drugs (morphine, heroin), black leaf nicotine, benzene, kerosene, empty syringe air embolus, rat poison (arsenic, thallium sulfate), gas (sarin, chlorine, phosgene) etc.
# Poisons must be fatal, easy to administer, easy to obtain or created at home. Always give the double amount necessary to kill, which will ensure no chance of survival.
Use of Firearms
# Firearms are preferred choice of weapons, for they are lethal, portable and quiet.
# The firing range for kill should be less than 5-feet to 15-feet; preferred caliber are 0.38 special, 9mm; prime targets are head, spine, heart.
# Always if possible, hit two different combinations of targets, and all three to be sure.
# For silent gun discharge, some ways are-- use it on muzzle to skin basis, jam the gun muzzle up the rectum of victim and fire.
# For untraceable weapons strategies, use sanitized/ home-made guns, use of special bullets (plastic, fiber-glass, bicuspid, dum-dum, hollow-point, explosive bullet, aluminium bullet), smooth-bore guns.
# For Snipers, he has 216 sq. inch of target to hit (central zone from top of head to groin), use suppressed gun. For VIP assassination, use armor-piercing bullets, the best options being 30.06 AP bullets, 2130 gr. 20mm AT Lahti.

# Other types reported are walking sticks, soda pop bottle, compressed-air blowgun, spring & piston type.
# Most of assassin's blow gun falls b/w 12-18".
# Even unpoisoned dart has tremendous penetration, accuracy and range.
Self Destruct
# Sometimes assassins kill themselves when they are badly wounded or, about to be taken prisoner.
# They keep a spare bullet, poison pills & L-pills (cyanide). They were disguised in glass vials as fake tooth, stick pin, hollow ring, epaulet button, pen caps, needle in fake currency coin, in cigarette filters etc.
The Silent Grenade
# Used by assassins in large gatherings like ballrooms, receptions, press conference etc.
# Some examples are Soviet PFM-1 mine/ Butterfly mine (L- 4.69"), US BLU-43/B "Dragontooth" (L- 3") etc.

# Target areas-- Skull, spine, heart
# Very quiet device, with different types of bits & attachments available
Use of Bio-climatology for Necrotechnics
# On a warm sunny day, a man's blood flows freely through his veins; his saliva protects his breath and keep his breathing light and swift. There is no obstruction to blood or breath circulation. Best time for shooting or stabbing.
# On a cold blustery day, the blood flows thickly and the breath is denied protection and keeps ebbing. Studies haves shown that most coronary occulations occur during such periods. Best time for strangulation, choking and some poisonings.
# During a waxing moon, blood and breath circulates freely and are much enhanced. Shooting or stabbing indicated.
# During a full moon, both the blood and breath are plentiful and the muscles and flesh firm. Shooting or stabbing indicated.
# During a waning moon, the arteries and veins drain and the breath becomes more volatile. Air denial operations indicated.

Bloody Affairs Department
# A pistol loaded with a blank cartridge (9mm and up) placed against the base of the skull and fired will render unconscious or kill the subject. A similar event occurs when fired into the earhole or the hollow of the neck.
# Cyanide, although having a characteristic smell (bitter almonds) does however deaden the sense of smell so that concentrations can build up unnoticed until too late. One could, upon entering a room, smell the peculiar odor. It would then appear to dissipate and one would cease worrying about it.
# If someone poisons your morning coffee with Prussic acid you will notice globules of fat forming when you add the cream. The cyanide breaks up the cream. This particular process should alert you to danger.
# By reversing a shotgun slug in the shotshell a cup-shaped projectile is created. When fired at close range it mushrooms, causing great shock effect.
# Curious practice of the Moro tribesmen of Insurrection fame was to bind their limbs tightly with leather and cloth before going into battle. This amounted to pre-tourniquet-ing of any wounds they might suffer and cut down blood loss. Basis of western tradition in ancient times of “girding the loins.” African warriors bound their testicles with rawhide. The self-inflicted pain was so great they were immune from any suffering that the enemy might inflict.
# To make explosive ammo in the larger calibres (9mm & up) obtain semi-jacketed hollow point bullets. Drill almost to the bottom of the bullet, to the copper jacket, using a .175” drill. Insert two grains of Pyrodex or fine grain gunpowder, follow with a #4 lead shot and top with an E C blackpowder percussion cap. Protect the head of the cap with a coating of wax or glue for weatherproofing. A similar bullet can be drilled to accept a pistol primer with a smaller diameter step in front of the primer filled with Pyrodex. The base of the primer at the tip of the bullet is again coated for weatherproofing.
# Rectal compartment (used by prisoners & potential captives). It contained money, ammo, cuff key, lock-picks, knife.
# Dagger found at Alamut fortress, Caspian coast (10th cen. BC; L-12.6")
# Hydra-shok ammo (1988)
# Swiss flechette pen pistol
Angles of Attack
# When conducting ambush and attack from cover, use around-the-corner guns.
# Best suited and economical ones are 0.22 RF bolt-action rifles, SMG.
# To curve a barrell around a corner/parapet/trench top is to bend/ shift the position of stock of firearm.
# Diverging barell shotguns (eg. Scurimobile gun)
# Ricochet shooting used when opponent hiding behind an object, against bunkers, L-alleys, tunnels.
Plastic ball shrapnels, glass marbles and beads were also used for same effect.
Waist Disposal
# Weapons mounted & fired from waist/thorax.
# The belt itself can be used as a lash or garrote. It can be improvised from motorcycle chain, belt with diver's weight, garrison soldier belt with sharpened buckle.
# German Louis Marquis Nazi belt-buckle pistol (1934; 0.22 cal; L- 5"x2")
# German Nazi belt buckle dagger (L- 2.5"x1.75"; blade L- 5.5")
# Belt buckle derringer (L- 4")
# American percussion belt pistol (1850s; 0.38 cal; L- 5.25")
# Japanese Belt Pistol (1940s; 4mm rimfire. 1.87")
# Belt buckle BK
Auto Suggestions
# The assassin must decide whether he intends to kill the subject by direct or indirect action. Direct action normally means access to high explosives and detonators and is a cliche mob hit.
Indirect action implies that damage to the subject’s vehicle leads to an accident and his injury and/or death.
# Some ways are-- placing dynamite sticks in car, gasoline ignition, brakes tampering, tampering steering wheel, rigged horn button, cigarette lighter receptacle, blinding driver with Ruby laser, door-panel mounted shotgun.
Fighting with Fire
# During WW-1, portable flamethrowers were used as weapon by Germany, France, UK.
# During WW-2, they were used by Germany, France, UK, Japan, Italy, Soviet Union, US, Finland, Poland.
# Flammenwerfer M.16. (German flamethrower, 1916) [Range- 18m]. It was the 1st one used in WW1 against France.
# Flamethrowers were most effective in close-range combat, used to clear enemy trenches and fortified positions.
Poison Daggers
# The deliberate fouling of weapons by dipping them into decaying matter and rotting flesh was practiced well into the last century by American Indians.
# Flint knives, spears, arrows are suited for holding matter in the scalloped recesses of the stone. Pastes of poison were also applied to the shafts to be absorbed into the pores of the wood. Bacteriological poisons used in the Viet Nam era, with poisoned punji stakes dipped in water buffalo urine and fecal matter.
# The 12th cen. intriguers and assassins of Venice (Italy) who gave us the poison ring and pocket crossbow also developed the poison dagger. It was a glass dagger with a triangular blade which contained vegetable poison; the technique was to stab the subject and break the blade within his body, releasing the toxin.
It can be stabbed anywhere into the subject’s body—thighs, buttocks, arms are the more likely areas. He has only to be stabbed once, and then the attacker can flee.
# Different poisons are applied to daggers in different ways. The liquid poisons are contained within the blade. Powder and paste poisons are applied directly onto the blades (garlic, ricin, tobacco juice etc.).
# Common poisons such as potassium/ sodium cyanide can be pressed into aspirin-sized pellets and placed into cavities of knife blades.
# Wooden and aluminum knife & daggers, because of their porosity, also serve as poison carriers.
Modern Anachronisms
# CIA exploding cigar (5") - 1960s
# Using percussion caps and nipples in modern weapons. The caps can go back even further to the tape primers in those caps used in the toy cap guns. There is a sufficient amount of fulminate in those toy paper caps to initiate grenade or propellant action. In a pinch they can substitute for percussion caps by placing them over the nipple vent and holding the caps in place with a piece of foil wrapper. The paper caps can be cut from the roll with a circular paper punch.
# Match lock ignition can be updated by using a real match in the dog’s jaws, the strike card acting as a frizzen. The wooden safety match would be induced forward and down by a rubber band.
# SOE pen gun "Hitgun" [1940s; 0.31 cal; L- 5"]
# Click pen match bomb
# Peskett CCW (steel ball + garrote + dagger 12.25")
Cutting Loose
# SOE lapel dagger (L- 4")
# SOE Dart-pen (L- 1.375"; range - 40-ft)
# OSS nail dagger (L- 7")
# SOE boot nail dagger (L- 5.5")
Slings & Arrows
# The problems with slings & slingshots have always been the missiles: rocks, clay balls, lead shot, marbles, steel balls, air gun pellets, nails, BBs. They are all fine for small game and targets but lack deadly force.
# The velocity of modern slingshots approaches 500 fps. Because the projectile is heavier than a comparable bullet, the stopping powers start to coincide.
# The present ability of most of the modern projectile weapons to fire darts & arrows, makes them favored in an assassination context. They are decidedly portable, cheap & expendable, accurate at combat ranges.
The full-length arrows can be of the take-down variety, toxins and assorted bodily waste products applied thereto.
# The 1st commercially made slingshot was the Zip-Zip (1918), a cast iron model (L- 5").
# The Wham-O slingshot (1948) was made of ash wood and used flat rubber bands. It was suitable for hunting, with a draw weight of up to 45 pounds-force, and was available with an arrow rest (L- 7")
# The National Slingshot Association was founded in the 1940s, headquartered in San Marino, California (US).
# Explosive ammo slingshot musket
# Robert W. Drake crossbow (1962)
# R. Blair's Wrist Rocket Sling Bow/ Combo Sling (1982) :--
It can shoot steel balls, short arrows; speed 250-260 fps, L- 14".
# The H&K P11 is an underwater firearm with 5 barrels. It can shoot both flechette darts (7.62×36mm) and 0.30 cal bullets (1976; L- 7.9")
Department of Bloody Affairs
# Death by hanging, where the aim is to break the neck rather than to choke. The shock of a ton dropping through one foot is just sufficient to fracture the anterior articulating surface of the second vertebra at their contact with the atlas, and that this fracture allows the shock to fall upon the medulla oblongata, so as to produce instantaneous death.
# In disposing of a subject whose body needs to be hidden, it is necessary to dig the grave before the hit is to take place. The hole is then concealed. Quicklime is spread within the hole in preparation for the subject and over the subject himself once he is placed in the grave. After the grave has been filled in, sprinkle 2-3 pounds of pepper to forestall dogs sniffing around and disturbing the site.
# The use of body armor has given rise to a rethink on targeting of handguns. The head, upper thighs, armpits and through-and through shoulder-to-shoulder shots are the new aim points.
# When using ether (from auto ignition spray) or chloroform on a subject, the attacker should apply the handkerchief until the subject’s eyes no longer blink.
# By pulling down the lower eyelid of the subject an icepick can be thrust under the eye to the brain and the wound site covered by skin folds.
# Shoot the subject with a meteorite from a muzzle loader. Cauterize wound entrance.
# Attach a microphone to a command detonated bomb. When you hear the subject’s voice you may be sure.
