Soap has been around for thousands of years, with the first recorded evidence of soap-like materials dating back to about 2800 BC in Ancient Babylon !! It’s a fascinating substance that has evolved and continues to be a crucial part of our daily lives.
The history of the soap is long, from its humble beginnings to today’s wide variety of soap types, including dish soap for cleaning kitchenware and laundry soap for washing clothes.
Some Unknown Facts about Soap :
# Soap is important because it allows us to keep clean and remove dirt from our bodies before eating. Soap gets rid of oil-based dirt on our skin and clothes plus the harmful bacteria which live in the oils on our skin.
Water on its own can’t remove oils from the skin or clothes because water and oil don’t mix. An emulsifier is needed which allows water and oil to mix and to remove the dirty oils from our skin. Soap is an emulsifier and a useful tool in keeping us clean and fresh, getting rid of body odor, and maintaining good hygiene.

# During the 20th century there were various alleged instances of soap being made from human body fat. During World War I the British press claimed that the Germans operated a corpse factory in which they made glycerin and soap from the bodies of their own soldiers.
Both during and after World War II, widely circulated rumors claimed that soap was being mass-produced from the bodies of the victims of Nazi concentration camps which were located in German-occupied Poland. The myth has been debunked for many decades.
