Fut Gar Martial Art

Hii everyone !!! Fut Gar or Buddhist style is a Shaolin style of Kung-fu which utilizes mostly punches, palm strikes and low kicks. It is further characterized by evasive footwork, circular blocks and using opponent's force against him. One style that was formally founded using the name of Fut Gar has its origins at one of the Siu Lum temple in Guangdong province. Early on in its history, the monks at this temple were fortunate enough to learn martial arts from fighters that had mastered the 5 most popular systems of the Southern Kung-fu, which were Lau-gar, Lei-gar, Mok-gar, Choi-gar, Hung-gar.   A Shaolin monk named Leung Tin Jiu realized the value of incorporating different styles together and took only best techniques of each style. Compiled mostly from Choi-gar and Hung-gar, this became Siu Lum Fut Gar or Buddhist style. The Liu Tin Jiu style of Fut-gar  is best known in China for the Flying Dragon Staff form . Combative Striking Strategies

Level of attack :-- The height of attack is often varied, such as a jab to the head followed by a kick to the ribs . By varying level of attack, strikers open guard of their opponents. 3. Timing and rhythm  :-- Experienced strikers learn through repetition and muscle memory when to launch particular strikes, based on circumstances they are facing. Fights and fighters may have ebbs and flows in momentum and action that become predictable. Disrupting this flow may give strikers an advantage. 4. Direct line :-- "Telegraphing" refers to moving striking body part prior to actually launching the blow. Telegraphing signals intent to the opponent and increases the likelihoo...

Combative Striking Principles

Hii everyone !!! The 7 Principles of Striking : 1. Timing of muscular tension :-- The striker relaxes to the extent possible during the strike, tensing muscles of much of the body only at the time of impact, then relaxing again to recoil the striking part. Relaxation enables strike to achieve greatest possible velocity during the travel, while rigidity at impact allows maximum transfer of force. This principle is summerised as "Move like a Whip and hit like a Baseball bat". 2. Breath control :-- The striker may include a Kiai or shout to help tense the muscles and distract or frighten the opponent. Strikers generally exhale as strike nears the target. Breath control is also important to relax body when not attacking; novice strikers often bleed significant energy because they are tense at inappropriate times. 3. Penetration :-- Strikers should aim for  a point 4-6 inches behind the target surface, to impact most energy into the target. The striker in combat sh...
